Being a major takeover, the partner country comes with perks and platforms to be in people’s faces. Whoever interacted with ITB Berlin 2017 in some way came to know about the partner country. For a country that was comparatively unfamiliar to the world, this was a major scoop.
Other partners which were BTO roped in were the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation through the Botswana Mission in Germany, Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture, De Beers, Brand Botswana, Botswana Investment and Trade Centre, and HATAB to provide healthy Botswana experience to the world through the ITB-Berlin.
Many travel and tours companies and hospitality providers were also a part of the Botswana team in ITB Berlin. This joint effort was geared toward the promotion of everything related Botswana – their tourism offer, investment, culture and heritage, food, their traditional song and dance, history and the Botswana diamond story.
Being the world’s biggest travel and trade show attracting huge number of exhibitors, buyers, visitors, international media and trade visitors every year. Therefore, this event was one of the greatest platforms for Botswana to put its best foot forward. Driving in and around Berlin, one got a sense of nostalgia as the #ILoveBotswana branding popped up everywhere. Random city buses, trains, walls, street poles were clad in #ILoveBotswana messaging.
