Brazil currently has 28 lodging facilities classified under the new system managed by the Tourism Ministry official. Two hotels in Bahia and Minas Gerais are the most new ventures that are allowed to use the symbol of the Brazilian star rating Media Hosting (SBClass). These are the Port Geraes Beach Hotel, Porto Seguro, and Ouro Minas Palace Hotel in Belo Horizonte. The Bahia Hotel is classified as three star, and Minas Gerais, in five star category.

With the new members, the number of classified hotels has increased to about 28 in 11 states. Currently, there are 10 businesses in category five star, 6 in four star, 10 three star and 2 hotels under two star. Another 45 facilities are in the process of classification across the country.
The SBClass classifies seven types of lodging facilities: hotel, resort, flat, lodge, ranch, historic hotel and bed and breakfast.
