Brazil Tourism Minister Gaston Vieira went to the Carnival in Salvador on February 10, 2013 to meet Operations Center Guides and monitor Salvador besides the ferry terminal in the Bay of All Saints.

With the tour guides and monitors scattered at strategic points in the city to support the visitors, they are prepared to provide tourist information in 12 languages and serve 24 hours a day.

At the invitation of the Secretary of Tourism of Bahia, Domingos Leonelli, the Tourism Minister spoke to the coordinators of the project and met the call center employees used to assist tourists.

The project, which is six years old, involves 70 guides, 330 monitors, 70 supervisors, 50 call center operators, 30 engineers and 80 information desks. “We want to set an example,” said Leonelli.

Gaston Vieira classified this as an extremely positive initiative. “It serves as a model. I am very impressed. We will study how to extend this experience to other places, “he said.

Among the professionals who have been working there are Russian Natalya Barbosa, who has been on the project since the beginning. “I’m very proud of the work. Tourists come with many different questions and, with our help, they feel welcomed, “he said.

Then the Minister accompanied the carnival circuit in Campo Grande. According to estimates of the Department of Studies and Research of the Ministry of Tourism (Depes), 6.2 million trips will be held in Brazil during Carnival 2013, generating a financial turnover of £ 5.7 million to the country, 3.6% more than the previous year.
