The Tourism Ministry selected 42 qualified proposals that have reached a minimum score of 12 points. The Ministry has set aside £ 3 million budget for municipalities, departments of state and local tourism who attended the competition.
The limit is $ 600,000 for each macro-region of the country (North, Northeast, South, Southeast and Midwest).
“It’s an opportunity for municipalities to promote events and attract tourists with public festivities this time of year-end,” explains National Secretary of Tourism Policies of the Ministry of Tourism, Vinicius Lummertz.
The final result will be announced next week. Among the conditions for approval of the project are the recognition of the traditional character of the event and its realization by the end of 2013 or until the Carnival 2014.
The selection of projects is restricted to public entities (municipalities, state tourism departments and municipal) and the minimum value released by the Ministry is $ 100,000. The maximum is $ 400,000, according to the number of residents.
