The Brazilian Minister of Tourism, Marcelo Álvaro Antônio, met with Gol airline CEO Paulo Kakinoff and board members this Thursday (Sept 19) in São Paulo / SP.

The managers discussed the importance of domestic tourism and airport infrastructure in expanding flight options and diversifying reach to Brazil’s tourist destinations.

The minister invited the directors to visit Serra da Capivara, in Piauí, and asked the support of the company to expand flights to the place, which has a great potential for tourism growth.

The minister also discussed possible measures to make airfare prices more competitive.

“Within this objective of attracting more than 40 million tourists into the domestic market, we have started a very in-depth discussion with airlines to reduce ticket prices,” said the minister.
