British Columbia carries on remaining a major attraction for tourists and business people from all over the world.
As per the new figures of Statistics Canada, a three percent uptick in terms of visitor arrival is being seen on December 2017 over the same time last year.
In total, more than 5.7 million overnight tourists visited the province in 2017. It was an increase of 3.3 percent, or 181,700 visitors, over the year before.
The government accredited the growth partially to the greater access to B.C. from numerous key international markets like Australia, Germany, Mexico, China and France.
Greater air traffic to Vancouver adds to the vitality of the tourism industry.
Destination BC, the tourism marketing agency of the government, works in tandem with tourism stakeholders throughout B.C. to promote British Columbia as a world-class tourist destination.
Increases for 2017 include:
Australia – up 20.4 percent
Germany – up 15.4 percent
Mexico – up 12.9 percent
China – up 7.1 percent
United States (excluding same-day visitors) – up 1.9 percent
