British family beaten in ThailandAnother incident in Thailand is sparking concern among tourists. Three members of a British family were punched to the ground. They were knocked unconscious and kicked on the face in a Thai Beach resort.

The incident occurred on the 13th April but was not leaked and was only recently released in the internet. During the Hua Hin celebrations the holidaymakers were attacked. A middle aged woman was also among the victims. The incident took place in a coastal town which is popular among Europeans.

CCTV footage shows a vicious attack on the tourists which takes place for  a long time where a  Thai man carrying a  bottle pushes a  British national to the ground after being touch on the shoulder by the British man.

The British woman takes the Thai man to the side and an argument ensues. Several Thai men punch the family until all three are on the ground. When they try to rise, they are kicked in the face and left unconscious before onlookers come to their aid, some move away from the chaos.

The family was believed to have stayed on in Thailand even after the incident. The police have arrested two men in connection to the incident in their 20’s and 30’s. The British man was in his 40’s and his parents were in their 60’s. The perpetrators were drunk when they performed the act they claimed and later apologised. The younger man got several stitches in his head, his father had a   head injury with a   swell and the mother too was badly injured in the head and suffered from occasional headaches.

The accused were later freed on bail and wore bullet-proof vests, a customary practice of Thai police when presenting suspects to the public. The Songkarn festival is celebrated with joy as people throw water on each other and part continuously.

A safety campaign has been launched by the British Embassy to make tourists aware of the dangers. There is an increase of accidents and drunken hooliganism during this period.

According to an eye witness by the end of the night when the bar customers were leaving Thai youth gangs was planning on kicking westerners. Within 20-30 meters the Thai gang started punching the 65yr old lady in the face.  The elderly gentleman was down on the floor and their son was beaten very badly. The witness who wanted to help was punched severely in the jaw and needed dental work for his injuries.

    What a pity????
Its time the Thai administration wakes up before it becomes too late.

  3. It’s shame , Thai Government should take serious steps at this time , in case of ignorance it’s beginning of the end of Thai tourism.

  4. Kamaal Ahmed says:

Really Sad, how can people hit elderly people. They should not have been released on bail. There is no point in an apology in such cases. How can they treat their guests in such a way.???
