A six-page article showcasing great walking in Kerry features in the January edition of Trail, a popular magazine targeting walkers and lovers of the great outdoors across Britain. Trail has a circulation of almost 24,000 – or potential walking holidaymakers for Kerry and the South West.
Tourism Ireland in London invited journalist Oli Reed, from Trail magazine, to visit Kerry in October. The resulting article appears in the latest edition of the magazine under the headline “Exploring the Emerald Isle” and features lots of stunning photos of places like Purple Mountain, the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks and the Dingle Peninsula, as well as tips for great places to stay and eat.
Vanessa Markey, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Great Britain, said: “We are delighted with the excellent coverage in Trail magazine, which is a wonderful way of showcasing Co Kerry to our ‘great escaper’ audience in Britain. Publicity is an important element of our overall promotional programme, helping to raise awareness through the media in Britain of our spectacular scenery, wonderful walks and the many things to see and do on a holiday in Ireland.
“Britain is the largest market for tourism to the island of Ireland and we have seen strong growth in British visitor numbers so far this year, with the latest CSO figures indicating growth of +11% for January to October, almost 303,600 extra British visitors compared with the same ten-month period in 2014. We recently launched our marketing plans for next year, which will see us build on this year’s growth, to make 2016 another record year for tourism.”
