Bromley Cross Level Crossing To Be Made Safer

Published on : Saturday, July 8, 2017

Network RailThe crossing, near Bolton, will be improved with better fencing and safer, more reliable gates.

Carried out as part of the Great North Rail Project, part of the national Railway Upgrade Plan, the crossing will be closed overnight from Monday to Friday next week (Monday 10 to Friday 14 July). Network Rail engineers will be working through the night while trains are not running (11pm to 5.30am) to complete the work.

Matthew Noblet, level crossing manager said:

“We are improving Bromley Cross crossing as part of our nationwide level crossing improvement plan. This work cannot be done while trains are running so we are doing it at night which causes the least disruption to passengers and users of the crossing.

“A clearly marked diversionary route will be in place via Chapeltown Road, Turton Road and Shady Lane each night. I’d like to thank local people for their patience while we complete this vital work.”
