Brooklyn-bound Marine Parkway Bridge Closed Overnight Dec. 17-18

Published on : Saturday, December 12, 2015

MTA-RailThe Brooklyn-bound (north) side of the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge will be closed to traffic during overnight hours from Thursday night through Friday morning, Dec. 17-18 for removal of the temporary Rockaway Point Boulevard overpass structure.

All north-bound traffic will be detoured to the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly.

(Note: The exception is Q35 bus, which will maintain normal route under facility escort).

Traffic heading into the Rockaways from Brooklyn (south) will be detoured onto the Breezy Point exit and back onto the 169th Street entrance ramp.

The $13.9 million design/build project to reconstruct the nearly 50-year-old overpass employed an accelerated timeline to minimize impact to motorists, which enabled the newly reconstructed overpass to open before Thanksgiving.
