Brunei Darussalam is steadily emerging as an important tourism and hospitality destination that is likely to overtake developed markets, as per a study conducted by QnA International that is an event management company.
The survey was conducted on the global MICE, corporate and luxury travel industry.
And it had revealed insights on industry trends and challenges, the emerging destinations and also a few emerging trends and challenges present in the industry. Participants of the survey were asked to identify the emerging destinations that might surpass the developed markets as a leading tourism and hospitality destination.
They were identified as Macau, Hong Kong, Siberia, South Korea, Brunei Darussalem, the Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, Estonia, Lithuania, Monaco, Poland, Swede, Bosnia, Albania, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Oman, Montenegro as the upcoming MICE hotspots.
More than 300 experts entrusted with the responsibility of organizing MICE, business and luxury travel took part in the survey to assess the emerging trend within the industry.
In the Middle East, the MICE market is rapidly growing, especially in Dubai since it continues to be the best choice for business, incentives, meetings and luxury travel in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as per the QnA survey.
The results of the survey indicate some new destinations of choice for business and luxury travel.
For instance, France was indicated as the most favored business travel locale in Europe while Greece made a strong appearance as well and Morocco and Australia were listed as destinations of choice for luxury travel.
As per this study the leading destinations for corporate travel included European nations like Italy, the United Kingdom, Greece, Germany, France, Italy and Asia nations like Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, India and China and also Australia, US and the UAE.
The top destinations also included Europe, Australia and particularly Eastern Europe, Central Asian countries like Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and also the South Asian subcontinent and Far East.
Mediterranean nations like Greece, Turkey, Albania, Cyprus and the ones like from the Middle East and Africa like the UAE, Kenya¸ Kuwait and Tanzania are also featured as top destinations for MICE industry.
The top luxury travel destinations from the GCC are places like the United States, Fiji, Bora, the UAE, Croatia, Morocco, Mauritius, the United States, New Zealand and Hawaii.
In May last year Brunei Darussalam had been named the 13th best destination across the world for Muslim tourists in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries.
The Sultanate had scored full marks (100) in terms of safety aspect and prayer space access and had been able to gain 90 marks in dining options in the MasterCard-CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) for 2017 that had covered 130 destinations internationally.
As per the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, the tourist arrivals to Brunei has risen by almost 10% towards the end of 2017 as compared to just 0.3% in 2016.
The statistics offered by the Tourism Development Department the total number of international travellers had arrived in the Sultanate through the Brunei International Airport (BIA) in the second quarter of 2017.
It had actually reached 65,747 as compared to 52,292 tourists in the same period last year and recorded a 25.7% year-on-year growth.
