Events are a very important part of our visitor experience. We currently invest more than $10 million a year in supporting 80 events. These attract around 70,000 visitors, who stay an average seven nights and spend $200 a day. That’s an injection of $100 million a year into our economy.

Tourism is booming in Tasmania and this Government is committed to making sure that our regions are well placed to share in the prosperity of a vibrant visitor economy. This will further help us achieve our commitment to attract 1.5 million visitors to our state every year by 2020, which the industry tells us will create an additional 8,000 jobs.
