China is both the biggest sources of tourists and foreign direct investment (FDI) to Cambodia.
As per a report by the Council for the Development of Cambodia, the fixed asset investment from China was responsible for nearly 20.2% of the total investment in Cambodia from 1994 to 2017.
In the year 2017 Cambodia has lured the fixed asset investment of 1.43 billion U.S. dollars from China that is about 27% of the total investment in the country last year.
For tourism Chinese tourists to this kingdom has crossed the 1-million mark last year, ushering about 00 million U.S dollars in the Cambodian economy as per the Cambodian Tourism Minister Thong Khon.
Recently Li Keqiang who is the Chinese Premier had paid visit the Cambodia.
During this time, Lim Heng who is the vice president of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce mentioned that excellent relations and cooperation between the two nations was the main factor that has been encouraging more Chinese investors and tourists to visit Cambodia.
Lim Heng is also the president of agro-industrial development firm An Mady Group.
He has went on to assert that Chinese investors have actually invested in different sectors of Cambodia including energy, infrastructure, garment, footwear, telecoms, banking, agro-industry, real estate and construction. He has also said that the visit by Premier Li to the country would play a major role in strengthening economic and political ties and cooperation between the two nations.
The figures released by the Cambodian government state that the total trade volume between these two nations was valued at 5.1 billion U.S. dollars in the initial 11 months of 2017 surpassing the gross volume in the year 2016.
