As per Numan Kurtulmus, the new Turkish Tourism Minister, by the year 2023, Turkey is targeting to reach 50 million visitors to create an economic impact of 50 billion dollars. He was the person to design the strategy and re-launch the country as a much preferred vacation spot in the world.
“Recent developments have caused campaigns that have hit Turkey’s image,” Kurtulmus said.
“We see our cultural and tourism wealth as a key to correct wrong perceptions, created to damage the international reputation of our country and generate unjustified anger against Turkey,” he said.
He said culture and tourism “can dissolve political conflicts and restore peace”.
“Turkey uses every possible way to guarantee the safety of national and foreign tourists in the tourist structures of Istanbul, Antalya, Konya, Van, and many other cities,” he said.
“Turkey’s famous destinations are as safe as Berlin, Paris, and Rome”.
He explained that Turkey witnessed a 14.05% growth in tourism in the initial six months of 2017 along with a 43% increase in tourism in the month of June alone when compared to June 2016.
