Known for bringing out all the cool kids, the annual South-by-Southwest Interactive, Film and Music Festival in Austin, Texas hasn’t exactly been a hotspot for actual kids in the past. But that’s all set to change in 2017.From loaner guitars and family-friendly live music events to yoga for youngsters, there’s something for every age group at this year’s festival. Among the noteworthy offerings:
KUTX Live at Four Seasons
Dates: March 15-18, 2017; music from 7:00 to 10:00 am daily
Location: Four Seasons Hotel Austin, 98 San Jacinto Boulevard
This annual Four Seasons Hotel Austin event is one of the hottest tickets in town with four days of music and interviews featuring some of the festival’s most anticipated performers. Hosted in partnership with local radio station KUTX, the 2017 series will include family-friendly music sets presented by the station’s “Spare the Rock Spoil the Child” program at 8:30 and 9:30 am daily. Admission is USD 10 per adult and USD 5 per child and includes a breakfast taco and bottomless coffee, with all proceeds benefiting the Seton Shivers Cancer Center.
TOMS One x One
Dates: March 15-19, 2017, timing varies
Location: TOMS Austin, 1401 South Congress Avenue
Known for its fashionable shoes and powerful one-for one social movement, TOMS is opening the doors of its Austin store to festival-goers for the second year in a row with a series of activities geared toward kids. Free to attend with an RSVP, the daily event lineup includes yoga sessions, live music and more.
Do512 Family Picnic
Date: Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm
Location: Midway Food Park, 1905 S. Capital of Texas Highway
