Justin Trudeau-ChinaCanadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has selected the new headquarters of China’s media giant Sina Weibo as the first stop on his trade-focused official visit on Monday.

Here he had made efforts to raise awareness about the immense potential of Canada as a favorable tourist destination.

Later, he also highlighted a new green tech connection between the Chinese capital and a certain company in Mississauga. Trudeau had arrived in Beijing on Sunday night accompanied with some ministers and staff.

They were cordially greeted at Beijing’s airport by a military guard and police escort.

Later Monday, the Prime Minister of Canada was scheduled to meet Premier Li Keqiang who is one of the highest-ranking officials in the Chinese government for the purpose of conducting bilateral talks and also a private dinner.

It is expected that Trudeau’s visit is likely to mark the commencement of formal free trade talks with the second-largest economy of the world after more than a year of exploratory discussions between the two nations.

Canada would be the first G7 nation to expect a free trade deal with the economic giant.

Furthermore Trudeau has focused his hope on the fact that closer economic relations with China has a potential to make way for stronger connections through tourism and co-operation on global issues including climate change.

The Canadian Prime Minister was accompanied by Catherine McKenna who is the Environment Minister.

Following his round-table at Sina Weibo, Trudeau immediately went ahead to test an emissions-free bus with Canadian technology that would be able to assist this nation’s megacities to deal with choking smog issues.
