Feroz Ali, a career-training entrepreneur explains that he has lived in Canada for only twenty months, but he already posses three private postsecondary schools along with the 36-year-old Canadian Tourism College.
In September, CTC or the Canadian Tourism College will inaugurate its new 11,500-square-foot campus located in 1111 Melville Street in downtown Vancouver.
This new campus will expand the capacity of the existing Hornby Street campus three times more, which is being transferred there. The newly built campus area will host a career school that also has separate campuses in Surrey and Victoria respectively.
“We are taking Canadian Tourism College through its new growth phase,” Ali told the Straight by phone.
The Sterling College will be housed in the new Melville Street campus, previously known as Stewart College that will provide postgraduate certificates in nursing vocation. This opportunity will offer foreign-trained nurses with further education so that they can get the chance to get licensed and continue their work in this country.
Ali observed that there is a deficient in nursing as the baby-boom generation moves toward retirement. “We have a global strategy of recruiting really high-calibre nurses to practise nursing in Canada,” he said. “The whole point of me being in Canada now is bringing the international experience from New Zealand. Perhaps I can do things slightly differently here and challenge the norm.”
