A group of influential Canadian travel agents has been visiting Ireland. They are here as guests of Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and Travel Professionals International (TPI), Canada’s largest network of independent travel agents. TPI runs this annual incentive trip – known as the Chairman’s Circle – for its top-performing travel agents, to a destination which has seen an increase in business.
The group’s action-packed trip along the Wild Atlantic Way included a sheep-herding demo at Glen Keen Farm and a guided tour of Westport House. They also enjoyed an overnight stay at Ashford Castle.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase Ireland to these top-performing Canadian travel agents,” said Dana Welsh, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Canada. “There is really no substitute for being able to come here and experience what Ireland has to offer at first-hand. Our aim is that when these travel agents return home, they will be better informed and really enthusiastic about the destination – which will, in turn, help to secure a greater share of their business for Ireland.”
2018 was the best year ever for Irish tourism from Canada – with CSO figures indicating growth of +8.2% over 2017. Tourism Ireland is rolling out an extensive and targeted programme of activity throughout 2019 – to keep the momentum going and build on that growth.
