Of late, Destination Cape Breton showcased its recent strategic arrangements at Cape Breton Regional Council on Tuesday night.
To quote Mary Tulle, Destination Cape Breton CEO, “China is the big buzzword on the Canadian tourism front.” Lately, the tourism association hired an expert on Chinese tourism to the island in order to judge it’s prospective.
The island of Cape Breton has a lot of attractions to lure Chinese visitors, as explained by Tulle, counting Cape Breton University along with the Chinese student population.
Tulle said, “We agreed that a great strategy for us is to really capitalize on bringing students, high school students with their families, for two- and three-week periods. We consider this a great niche to be able to then encourage our students to do their post-secondary [education] here at CBU, and then to potentially set up a business as well.”
Heine Cheng has exactly done the same. He newly purchased the Bannockburn Tours in Baddeck.
All visitors and cruise ship passengers are taken to all the main sites in and around the island by the said company. Besides, weekend trips to Halifax for Chinese university students are an added feature of this tour company.
