Cappadocia, semi arid region in Central Turkey is a tourist attraction center known for its natural, historical and cultural beauties. It hosted 2.2 million tourists last year, which accounts to a 48 percent rise in comparison to 2016 when the city organized some 1.4 million tourists. Again, Russian visitors were among the top 10 visitors of the region.
Visited by tourists across the globe, the visitor number from East Asia also grew simultaneously. Nevşehir Culture and Tourism Deputy Director Cengiz Ekici highlighted the fact that last year was a positive year for Cappadocia as visitor number increased by 48 percent in the region.
Keeping in mind that demands in terms of Russian tourists increased simultaneously and now they are among the top 10 visitors, Ekici said, “This year, we are making special preparations tailored for Chinese tourists. In coordination with the Nevşehir governor’s office, we are preparing a project called CappadoChina.” As part of the project, a China street will be planned with the target of luring more attention and interest from Chinese tourists.
