The Carlson Family Foundation, in partnership with global travel and hospitality company Carlson, announced a $20,000 pledge to Typhoon Haiyan relief groups to aid recovery in the devastated region and has asked Carlson colleagues worldwide to consider personal donations as well in support of its Philippines-based colleagues and hotels.
“As in the case of other global disasters, we believe it is our responsibility to do what we can to help our neighbors in need – wherever they may live,” said Trudy Rautio, president and chief executive officer for Carlson. “Carlson, in partnership with the Carlson Family Foundation and our businesses, is pleased to commit more than $63,000 to the relief efforts and we have encouraged our customers and employees to join us in this important humanitarian effort.”
The foundation, in partnership with Carlson, contributed $10,000 to the International Rescue Committee Typhoon Haiyan Fund and $10,000 to the American Red Cross Typhoon Appeal.
In addition, the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group’s loyalty club, Club CarlsonSM, is encouraging members to donate Club Carlson Gold Points® to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief effort via the Club Carlson website, which will be matched by a donation from the Carlson Family Foundation of up to $10,000.
The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, Asia Pacific, which operates two hotels in the region, including the Park Inn by Radisson Davao and the Radisson Blu Cebu, is collecting donations to benefit its own employees who were impacted by the typhoon.
The Rezidor Hotel Group, a member of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, has also donated EUR 10,000 to the Red Cross to support the relief efforts. This donation marks the beginning of a fundraising effort that will continue until January 2014 and include all 350 Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson hotels across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). As an example, Radisson Blu Hotel, Tromsø in Norway is organizing a benefit concert with famous national artists to support Small Projects, a local non-profit organization created by the local residents of the Philippines community.
Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) and TGI Fridays Restaurants are also showing their support for their colleagues and the people of the Philippines. CWT announced a donation of $25,000 to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent and is encouraging employees worldwide, in the 50 countries in which they operate, to donate personally to that organization or another relief organization of their choice, while TGI Fridays is encouraging team members to donate directly to the American Red Cross Typhoon Appeal or Red Cross Philippines.
