Exceltur trade association explains that the north-eastern region is going through intense anguish and this has been supported by the local business leaders and politicians to a great extent.
To quote Councillor, Agustí Colom as informed euronews, “The tourism sector is expressing its concern, there is evidence that bookings are going down.”
Ever since the contested independence referendum on October 1st, Catalonia is calculated to have undergone a 15 percent drop in terms of visitors in comparison to the same time last year. Hotel and transportation reservations through to the end of December are allegedly low by approximately 20 percent respectively.
The fall could be a costly affair. If the projections until the end of 2017 are definite, losses would reach around one billion euros.
