Morgan MacNeill was awarded the Matthew Jelley Business and Tourism Scholarship in fall general meeting by the Tourism Cavendish Beach. The scholarship of $1,000 is available to P.E.I. students registered in a tourism- or business-related discipline.
The main purpose of the business and tourism scholarship is to persuade in terms of increased professionalism in Prince Edward Island’s tourism industry.
At present, MacNeill is undergoing the bachelor of business administration program from the University of Prince Edward Island.
In his proposal he talked about what it’s like to be born and brought up in a family-owned tourism operation at the same time getting an early start in terms of employment, managing funds and the importance of volunteering.
“I live on a fourth generation dairy farm and tourist operation. I’ve grown up watching my grandparents and father operate their business with satisfaction and success,” wrote MacNeill in his composition. “I enjoy and relate to the way business blends with everyday issues. I’ve taken several business courses throughout high school and quickly came to realize that this is the field I want to pursue a career in.”
Sandi Lowther, president of Tourism Cavendish Beach, applauded MacNeill on the scholarship.
“We are very pleased to present this scholarship to Morgan MacNeill. He’s worked in the tourism industry in Cavendish for the past few years and we are positive that he will continue to help the industry grow and improve in the coming years.”
