Wellness means many things to many people, but few places explore its pure, innovative potential as comprehensively as Four Seasons Resorts Maldives via its two multi-award winning Spas: The Spa & Ayurvedic Retreat at Four Seasons Resort Landaa Giraavaru; and The Island Spa at Four Seasons Resort Kuda Huraa.
On June 13, 2015, the Spas are marking Global Wellness Day with a complimentary program of experiences that showcase their multi-faceted approaches in all their natural glory.
One of Asia’s most renowned centres of natural wellness, The Spa & Ayurvedic Retreat’s setting is therapy in itself – a three-acre complex in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, stretching from the centre of the lagoon to the heart of the jungle. The Global Wellness Day schedule spans sunrise meditation to evening candlelit chanting. Drawing on the island’s unique pool of experts, highlights include everything from “run and paddle” fitness to Ayurvedic cuisine, acupuncture, herbal remedies, Tai Chi and AntiGravity Yoga. There’s even yoga for children plus aquatic sunset asanas in the Resort’s seawater pool.
“It’s important to understand that you don’t have to be a gym rat or health freak to embrace a life of wellness,” comments The Spa & Ayurvedic Retreat’s Director Sandie Johannessen. “Our aim is to expose people to multiple approaches in the hope that at least one will inspire them to take control of their own physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. AntiGravity Yoga is a good example of a practice that is great for the body, mind and soul; aside from the physical benefits, it’s great fun to be flying through the air and the sense of freedom brings out the best in everyone who tries it. Global Wellness Day is an excellent opportunity to shine a spotlight on lesser-known experiences like this.”
A haven unto itself on its own private isle, The Island Spa pampers guests with the purest nature-inspired treatments, indulging the senses and uplifting the soul. Designed to impart a range of practical wellness skills, its Global Wellness Day program includes a wellness consultation with the Resort Doctor, BMI index analysis and complementary diet plan, Sunrise Beach boot camp, EFT session, lifestyle consultation with the resident yogi (addressing stress management, migraines and back/neck issues), and evening meditation.
