Celebrating the 4th Annual Global Day of Discovery Guests witnessed Incredible Evenings at the Renaissance Hotels

unnamed (10)Renaissance Hotels, the global lifestyle brand known for helping travelers make the most of their life on the road, will host its fourth annual Global Day of Discovery on June 11 at 30 hotels in 22 cities in Asia. During Global Day of Discovery, guests and the local community will be invited to attend exclusive hotel events and venture into the neighborhood to experience hot spots for food, bars, nightlife and entertainment. Each hotel’s experience will be curated by their lifestyle concierge — The Navigator.



Renaissance’s Global Day of Discovery also marks the official launch of Evenings at Renaissance, where guests and locals are encouraged to take time for #5to9. Evenings at Renaissance kicks off with a signature Bar Ritual centered on local craft beverages, curated by the hotel bartender and local beverage experts. The Bar Ritual is the signal that the 9 to 5 working day is over and it is time to transition into an incredible evening of discovery.

Some event highlights taking place around the world on June 11 are detailed below:

· Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel inspired guests to make time to discover an unforgettable evening at a “Bangkok Night Market” at R Bar — with live music along with arts & crafts found in local markets and street-vendor delicacies. Unexpected local experiences were headlined by popular Thai rock band Pod Modern Dog, who toured beyond Thailand to Tokyo and the United States. Their 2004 album That Song had three singles that went to No 1 in Thailand and featured guest appearances by Yumiko Ohno of Buffalo Daughter and Sean Lennon. Live entertainment extended to DJs Gift OKB and Zara Gift, with Thai artist Primita drawing portraits for guests and other artistic activities including Thai actor mask painting, candy sugar sculpture and plaited bamboo fish mobile souvenirs.



Four famous local food vendors served renowned signature dishes: Kai Yang Pa Keaw Shop (Grilled Chicken Crispy Skin & Sticky Rice), Kanom Krok Kaew (Thai Pandan Pancake), Khanom Chan Wan Dam Rong Mae Boon Chouy (Ancient Thai Desserts) and Sor Nah Wang (Stir-fried Rice Vermicelli with Water Mimosa). A visual and taste-based experience centered on local cocktails was curated by Jack Daniel’s brand ambassador Bee Pongphan Sangthai. Signaling that the working day is over and it’s time for transition into an incredible evening of discovery, the bar ritual featured three signature cocktails infused with Thai ingredients such as Maekhong Punch, Wan Wan, and Wan Jai.



· The Night Market at Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel offered a unique guest experience woven with local dishes, drinks, arts & crafts, music and live entertainment. For the very first time, the hotel partnered with trendy Asia popular fashion and lifestyle brand Shanghai Tang and transformed part of the lobby to “Fashion & Lifestyle Showroom” with fashion, furniture, home and decoration products, accessories, artpieces and small leather goods displayed. Gorgeous models dressed up Shanghai Tang’s trendy clothes that full of Chinese motifs. A wide range of branded arts & crafts were also available for purchase.
