‘Central America, is yours, enjoy it’ tourism campaign launched

tourism campaignThe campaign ‘CENTRAL AMERICA, IS YOURS’ which is a joint effort by public and private sector to promote the process of Central American tourism integration has been launched.

The campaign was launched simultaneously in all teh countries in the Central America region.

The campaign will value the tourist attractions of the region through innovative actions on social networks and websites that will position the “Central America, is yours, enjoy it” as well as the promotion and marketing of tour packages for tourism development intraregional.

Mauricio Ventura, Minister of Tourism Costa Rica, stressed the importance of actions to promote tourism in the region. He said this campaign represents an important effort among all Central American countries, thanks to the work articulated between the public and private sector.

Meanwhile, Pablo Heriberto Abarca, President of the National Chamber of Tourism, said, “This is a regional effort to strengthen our visitation. We hope the campaign identifies more and more multi products. ”

The “CENTRAL AMERICA, IS YOURS” campaign is expected to encourage half a million Central American users with access to internet to conduct intra-regional tourism search.
Different tour packages will be disseminated to target users who can directly contact companies that offer packages. As part of the campaign one free package will be provided for 2 people which includes: 3 nights, 4 days hotel: 2 days tours 1 day, meals and local transportation.

The intraregional tourism campaign is being carried out with the support of the Spain Fund SICA through the Program of Support for the Central American Tourism Integration.
Intraregional Tourism Program is part of the strategy for promotion and marketing of the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Tourism Development in Central America 2014-2018. As a result of the joint work of the eight countries of Central America in tourism integration, it has generated significant effects for sustainable tourism development in the region. In 2015, the seven Central American countries received 10.3 million tourists which is 6,61,000 more than in 2014 and equivalent to an increase of 6.9%.

In terms of revenue, tourism contributed US $ 10.9 billion to the seven countries in Central America, an increase of 4.7% compared to US $ 10.3 billion generated in 2014. This is an annual increase of US $ 485.6 million.
