About six homes and a school were badly damaged in the quake.
The only person injured as a consequence of the quake is Robentz Antoine who is an 18-year-old boy. During that point of time he was in Lascahobas and had to be ruched to the La Colline health center for medical treatment.
A national school in the 4th communal section of Sarrazin in Mirebalais, a home in Carrefour Flandé and five others in Mirebalais were damaged by the jolt.
Three departments including many towns on the Central Plateau, Artibonite and West had experienced the earthquake. The civil protection agency of Haiti said that Haiti is based within an active seismic zone.
The epicenter of the earthquake was not located on any major fault known in Haiti.
It was based about 11 kms from the southwestern part of Thomonde and 13 kms from the northeastern portion of Mirebalais or Central Plateau.
The quake had been recorded around 16.14 local time as per the official details released by the Technical unit of Seismology (UTS) of Haiti.
On 21st August, 2017 the Seismology Technical Unit alerted to a resurgence of seismic activities in the Nippes that is a part of Southwestern Haiti.
Between 3rd September 2015 and 20th August 2017 about 46 seismic events had occurred in the Nippes, especially at Anse-à-Veau.
