The Leeds North and West Foodbank is celebrating a year of successful fundraising at Leeds station.
Over the last 12 months, a team of volunteers from the food bank have been at Leeds station once a month with their fundraising buckets, collecting money to provide emergency food and support to local people.
Fundraising at the station has been hugely successful thanks to the generosity of those using the station and over £11,000 has been collected in the past year.
Debbie Ward, station support assistant for Network Rail at Leeds station, said: “We were delighted to be able to offer our support when Leeds North and West food bank approached us about fundraising at the station.
“We are always looking for new ways to support our local community and this gave us a great way to be able to do that. We know that we have fantastic customers who use the station and this is reflected in the generosity of their donations.”
Karen Burgon, project director at Leeds North and West Foodbank, said: “It’s been brilliant to be able to collect vital funds right in the heart of the city at Leeds station.
“The donations go towards helping those in need and I would like to thank everyone who has donated to the charity.
“I’m grateful to Network Rail for their support and I look forward to carry on fundraising at the station to help those in need.”
