Head to the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and witness one of Chekhov’s great plays as The Seagull makes a welcome return to the stage from June 19 to July 11.
Directed by Matthew Dunster (who had great success at this venue with A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 2012), this version of Chekhov’s first significant work is newly created by Torben Betts.
The Russian masterpiece tells the story of a party held at a country house. As the notable guests gather for the avant-garde event (appropriately held outdoors), the inevitable conflict begins, as artistic temperaments clash and egos oppose one another.
Addressing themes of romantic jealousies and the relentless pursuit of happiness, with a dash of self-doubt added for good measure, this literary wonder addresses the great questions of life in a stylish and captivating manner.
