The “Golden Week” holiday has come to an end, and so has the number-crunching. According to the China National Tourism Administration, almost 6 million Chinese chose to travel to other countries for their vacation on their country’s 67th birthday.
Chengdu has leapfrogged over Guangzhou and Shenzhen to become the one of the top three sources of outbound Chinese tourists. Shanghai and Beijing took the first and second place respectively showing that the residents of these cities enjoy travelling the most.
Among the destinations, Korea, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, USA, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Maldives and Russia are hot favourites as most of the Chinese who travelled overseas went to these countries. Encouraged by the convenience of the newly implemented Visa-free policy, there was also a significant increase in the number of Chinese visiting Morocco, Tonga and Tunisia. Morocco, in particular, saw an increase of 350% in Chinese arrivals.
Encouraged by the growth of outbound tourists from Chengdu, the various international exhibitors will be looking to showcase their tourism destinations, products and services at the Chengdu International Tourism Expo 2016. The exhibition to be held at Century New City International Convention & Exhibition Center from 2 to 4 December is expected to feature more than 400 exhibitors from over 40 countries.
Sri Lanka has been confirmed as the Country Partner, in their bid to attract more travellers. Sri Lanka will be joined by exhibitors from other countries such as Africa, Austria, Brazil, Denmark, Greece, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
The exhibition is expected to attract more than 6,500 trade visitors and 400 hosted buyers.
