This data has been collected by DestinationMAP (Meeting Assessment Program) conducted by the travel research firm STR.
STR conducts this online survey every two years wherein about association, third-party and corporate planners make plans to host meetings. Chris Klauda who is the director of destination research of STR said that as much as 67% of planners had listed Orlando and Chicago as popular destinations in their favored set lust.
More than 80% of the respondents asserted that unsafe environment and unsanitary conditions formed the major deterrents while determining the ideal destinations for planning meetings, as well as exorbitantly priced hotels.
The various destinations are required to work much harder to make a great impression on the minds of meeting planners and do away with the challenges that threaten them.
Although a large portion of information is available online, the meeting industry events continue to present an authentic source of valuable information since nearly two-third of all planners attend trade shows and conferences. Klauda said that almost a third of the people attend IMEX and a quarter attend the local and national M.P.I. and P.C.M.A. events.
She said that STR has also had a few conversations with respondents to collect anecdotal feedback that conveyed information about how destinations can collaborate together to work successfully with planners.
