As per the figures offered by the undersecretary of Tourism, Javiera Montes, the most receptive market was that of Argentina with as many as 3,323,771 visits to Chile. This represented an increase of 14.6% as compared to the previous year.
The Brazilians were in the second place.
The visits of these had amounted to 544 thousand (that is 24.1%) more than in 2016). And they were followed by Europeans.
The arrival of the Europeans had risen by 6.3% as compared to 2016 that is equivalent to 477,911 tourists. There were also visits by as many as 46,131 Italians that rose by 11.1%. The number of English visitors increased by 6% with the arrival of 54,714 tourists and the French rose by almost 8.6% to touch 83,758 arrivals.
The Spanish tourist arrivals increased by nearly 3.5% with 80,690 arrivals while Germans rose by 6% to 78,262.
A total of 211,718 tourists from the United States had arrived with a rise of nearly 1.5% as compared to 2016. And, a total of 51,978 Australian tourists had visited Chile that marked a rise of 2%.
One of the continents witnessing a considerable rise was the Asian that saw a rise of 22.9% as compared to the previous year.
As many as 83,351 tourists had visited Chile and it highlighted the Chinese that had 0,774 tourists marking a rise of 33.8%.
As per the estimates made by the Studies Division of the Undersecretary of Tourism, in 2018 the total arrival of tourists would be registering a rise of almost 8.5% with respect to 2017.
