Chiltern Railways – the UK’s most punctual train operator 2015-2016 Chiltern Railways has been named as the UK’s most punctual right time railway for the last year, according to research released by Network Rail.
The official right time rail industry figures, which are based on the percentage of services that arrive within a minute of their scheduled time, revealed that from 1st April 2015 to 31st March 2016 83.5% of Chiltern Railways trains were on time against a national average of 64.4%, placing the train operator miles ahead of companies such as Virgin Trains, London Midland and Great Western Railway.
This comes during the year where the train company opened the first new rail route between a major British city and London in over 100 years between Oxford Parkway and London Marylebone. Since opening, the line has exceeded targets for use and has been well received by passengers.
Dave Penney, Managing Director of Chiltern Railways said: “We are pleased to remain the most punctual train company. It has been an incredibly busy year as we opened a brand new rail link between Oxford and London, however we are committed to providing passengers with the best service we can. We constantly strive to improve and we are working further enhance the travel experience for our customers.”
