China and Brazil travellers have strong intention to visit Europe this summer as per the Long-Haul Travel Barometer. The Long-Haul Travel Barometer is a joint initiative of the European Travel Commission (ETC), the European Tourism Association (ETOA) and Eurail. The travel sentiment index in China and Brazil improved by four points over the same period in 2018.
The Barometer measured the intention of 1,000 people from Brazil, China, Japan, Russia and the US to travel to Europe between May-August 2019.
About 54 per cent Chinese respondents have a European destination in mind for the summer period. 2018 was EU-China Tourism Year and its success is now felt. Improved air connectivity and visa relaxation policies introduced in some European countries are attracting Chinese travellers to Europe.
About 70 per cent of Chinese travellers have indicated that they will stay in Europe between 7 and 14 nights and are likely to combine an average of four destinations in a single trip. The top European destinations are France and Germany. Croatia, Italy, Hungary, Monaco, Romania, San Marino and Serbia are also popular with the Chinese.
