Aiming to boost tourism co-operation, China and Hong Kong ink Agreement on Furthering Tourism Cooperation between CNTA and Hong Kong Commerce and Economic Development Bureau. CNTA chairman Li Jinzao welcomed Hong Kong delegation headed by chief executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor. This was the first mainland trip made by the new Hong Kong chief executive and also her first visit to CNTA since her inauguration.
Li said, “In recent years, our tourism cooperation with Hong Kong has made remarkable progress and tourism has become a key area for mainland-Hong Kong cooperation.”
In 2016, the mutual visits between the mainland and Hong Kong registered 124 million, constituting the world’s biggest two-way tourism market.
He added, “We’ve established a sound communication mechanism, deepened cooperation in study tours for teenagers and promoted tourism exchange. In the future, we’ll step up more efforts to develop the tourism market, deepen cooperation in tourism oversight, jointly safeguard the order of the tourism market with Hong Kong and bring our tourism cooperation to a higher level.”
Chief executive Carrie Lam thanked CNTA for its long-term support for Hong Kong’s tourism development and expressed desire to ‘join hands with CNTA in publicity and market exploration, so as to build up our reputation and recognition as tourist destinations, and cement people-to-people bond through tourism development’.
