In order to implement the decisions made by the just concluded National Tourism Work Conference, National Work Conference on the Tourism Market was held in Changsha, Hunan province on January 14. The conference also focused on summarizing the work in the Chinese tourism market in 2016 and studying and deploying the tasks for the year of 2017.
At the meeting, CNTA vice chairman Du Jiang gave a work report entitled “To Ride on the Momentum and Open up a New Chapter of Tourism Development Driven by Two Wheels in 2017.”
Du noted that 2016 was a harvest year for tourism-based diplomacy and the tourism market as well.
Du also stressed that, “The year of 2017 is a critical year for the 13th Five-Year Plan, for the deepening of the structural reform of the supply side, a year when the ‘515 Strategy’ is due and when the ‘Three Step’ strategy to build China into a tourism superpower is initiated. ”
Outlining the works for 2017, he said “For the upcoming year and for a period to come, our general approach for the work in the tourism sector is: to vigorously boost inbound tourism, stabilize the development of domestic tourism, regulate the development of outbound tourism, and continue to consolidate the coordinated development between these three markets and enhance the international influence and competitiveness of Chinese tourism industry.”
At the meeting, delegates from Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Fujian, Henan, Gansu, Shanghai, Guangdong, Sichuan and Hangzhou city of Zhejiang shared their views on and experience in building the tourism promotion alliance, regional tourism development, overseas marketing and branding, etc.
