China Southern Airlines, which started flying to Adelaide in December 2016, provided our State’s only direct service from mainland China. It currently operates three weekly flights on an Airbus A33B.
The Airbus A33B was introduced in June this year replacing the Airbus A330-200 and accounts for an additional 43 seats per flight.
Chinese visitors currently contribute $315 million to the visitor economy with a target set for $450 million by 2020.
With the addition of these flights in December, China Southern Airlines will have 1295 international seats each week coming into Adelaide and 150 tonnes of cargo capacity in and out of Adelaide.
Flights are scheduled for:
CAN-ADL CZ 663 departs 10:10pm (Mon, Wed, Thu, Sat, and Sun); arrives 8.55am (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, and Sun).
ADL-CAN CZ 664 departs 11:25am; arrives 18:05pm (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, and Sun).
Tickets for the additional flights go on sale today.
The flights will begin on 10 December on a seasonal basis until 26 February 2018 and China Southern has ambitions to make Adelaide a daily destination.
