The contest was actually an extension of a project carried out effectively in the year 2015 and 2016 in order to improve the profile of Thailand tourism and brand image through social media networks respectively.
Thailand greeted more than 12 million visitors in the first four months of 2017. It spent more than 620 billion Baht which accounted an increase of 4.71% from the same period in 2016. To note, out of it, 7.5 million came from East Asia generating 308 billion Baht.
However, China occupied the premium source market with more than 3.2 million arrivals generating 161 billion Baht in tourism revenue.
