The Chinese companies discussed the tourism possibilities of Azerbaijan

The tourism companies in Azerbaijan and the leading tour operators in China in a meeting have considered and talked about cooperation opportunities in tourism. The meeting was held on October 16th in Baku.


The meeting was arranged by the Azerbaijan Tourism Board to bring the local tourism and hospitality industry members and Chinese tourism industry representatives under one roof and to assist their cooperation.


Representatives of six leading Chinese travel companies and over 60 Azerbaijani tour operators took part in the B2B (Business-to-Business) meeting. They were provided with complete information regarding Azerbaijan and the opportunities related to tourism, tourist routes, hotels, ancient architectural monuments and national cuisine.


Tours to the tourist facilities of Baku and regions of Azerbaijan will be organized for the Chinese tour operators, which will be in the country until October 20. They provide more detailed information about the tourism possibility of Azerbaijan and the main tourism infrastructure.


Note that the Chinese tourist number visiting Azerbaijan went up to 20,000 in January-September 2019. This rise was a 64 percent increase in comparison to the same time last year.


The official Representative Office of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board opened in Beijing in December 2018.


Azerbaijan Tourism Board considers the Chinese market to be one of the key priorities for pulling visitors. The tourism potential of Azerbaijan since 2017 has been more actively promoted in this country.


Besides, in April 2018, Azerbaijan and Chinese tourism companies signed a cooperation agreement. In first period, the companies specializing in health tourism are keen to draw 2,000 more tourists every year on the basis of this agreement.


Chinese experts say that about 1 million Chinese patients travel abroad every year for health tourism. They consider that their citizens will mostly like Azerbaijan’s Naftalan.


Of late, Azerbaijan and China signed a memorandum of understanding on making group visits of Chinese tourists to Azerbaijan hassle-free.
