Space travelChinese scientists are conducting research on a new kind of aerospace vehicle that would transport people with no exposure to training to space at much more reasonable price as compared to its present cost, in nearly 10 years.

China Central Television (CCTV) have reported on Monday that researchers from China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation that begun work on a new vehicle that combines multiple kinds of engine technologies.

Powered by rocket engine, ramjet engine and turbine, the vehicle would be easily able to operate like an ordinary plane in the atmosphere. It would fly as a rocket in space thanks to these air-breathing engines.

Researchers have stated that this new vehicle could take off and also land at airports and would not require special launch pads as is normally required by conventional rockets. This would minimize the costs to a great extent.

Zhang Yong, a scientist working on the project said that they would be capable of mastering the crucial technologies within three or five years thereby improving the capability of the vehicle.

He said that this vehicle would be utilized for suborbital flight within the year 2030. And, he also added that the vehicle would be used for expeditions to distances about hundreds of kilometers from the earth.

CCTV has reported that this new vehicle enriched with a combination of smart technologies would be equipped with greater maintenance as compared to carrier rockets and space shuttles.

The China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, an institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation said that it would connect with other institutes to study the new space travel vehicle.

Yang Yang, an engineer of the institute stated that common masses would not require special training to use this vehicle for travelling to space.

The new vehicle would have a slower acceleration as compared to current rocket engines that require great propulsion for starting off that is an inconvenience for its people.

Presently, people are entitled to space travel through the orbital flight as well as the suborbital flight. While the orbital flight costs about $20 million and suborbital flight costs over $1,00,000.
