During the Chinese New Year, the Chinese global tourism market shows a strong growth and potential. It is the biggest source of overseas travelers from all over the world. Chinese tourists visit East Asia, Southeast Asia, Australasia, Russia, Europe, North America, Africa, South America and even to far-flung destinations like Antarctica and Iceland during this time. Many Chinese travel services are predicting that around 6 million Chinese will be traveling outside of China this new year holiday, accounting for 100 billion RMB in spending, or USD $14.5 billion.
Many businesses and brands, both big and small, are taking lessons in Mandarin for engaging with Chinese travelers from around the world during this season. Almost every major region of the world will feel the impact of Chinese travelers during this holiday period. The current boom in Chinese global tourism is not only due to growing volume of Chinese tourists, but also due to maturing nature of how Chinese tourists decide to travel globally. Chinese tourism is now also characterized by group travel along with individual travelers. This trend has already started to drive a whole host of new, Chinese-dedicated travel offerings for catering to Chinese travelers.
