Six Chinese travel agents have been enjoying an action-packed visit to Northern Ireland, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI. The agents are from various cities around China – including Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, Chengdu and Shenzhen.
The aim of the visit was to showcase some of the many visitor attractions and experiences on offer here for Chinese holidaymakers – so that when they return home, the travel agents will be better informed to advise their clients when planning and booking their holidays to Northern Ireland.
The group’s programme included visits to the Seamus Heaney HomePlace in Bellaghy, Hillsborough Castle and Titanic Belfast, as well as a fun ‘Winterfell’ experience at Castle Ward. The group also travelled along the Causeway Coastal Route, stopping at various Game of Thrones filming locations en route. They spent time in Londonderry and enjoyed a walking tour of the city’s historic walls.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase Northern Ireland to this group of Chinese travel agents,” said James Kenny, Tourism Ireland’s Manager in China. “There is really no substitute for being able to come here and experience what Northern Ireland has to offer at first-hand. Our aim is that when these travel agents return home, they will be really enthusiastic about the destination, helping to secure a greater share of their business for Northern Ireland.”
