Church House Conference CentreAfter eleven years and 4,600 performances at the Victoria Palace Theatre, Billy Elliot the Musical stars past and present joined together at Church House Westminster on April 9, 2016 for a celebration following the final London performance of the internationally award-winning show.

Ruthie Henshall and Deka Walmsley led the adult cast in the final Victoria Palace Theatre performance and were joined by director Stephen Daldry and writer Lee Hall at the post-show party, alongside 32 of the young performers who have played the role of Billy on the London stage. The Easington Colliery Band provided entertainment for the 700 guests and younger members of the cast came together to close the evening with a special performance of their own devising.

Marlaina Darmody, General Manager, Billy Elliot the Musical: “The proximity of Church House Westminster to the Victoria Palace Theatre and its capacity made it the ideal venue for Billy Elliot the Musical’s final performance party. We were really happy to work with the team at Church House and thank them for working so hard to make the party a very special send-off for everyone at Billy Elliot.”

Based on the Oscar nominated film released in 2000 and set in a northern mining town against the background of the 1984/85 miners’ strike, Billy’s journey takes him out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class where he discovers a passion for dance that inspires his family and whole community and changes his life forever. The first ever UK & Ireland tour – currently booking to May 2017 – opened in February at the Theatre Royal Plymouth and continues visiting Sunderland, Bradford, Cardiff, Dublin, Edinburgh, Bristol, Manchester, Southampton and Birmingham.

Church House Westminster’s General Manager Robin Parker commented: “It was a very special occasion. To have so many people involved in the musical come together for the last time highlights its popularity and impact on the West End. This is one of the first post-show parties that has been held at Church House Westminster and we are delighted to be part of such a momentous occasion. It demonstrates that Church House Westminster is not just a conference centre and can cater for all types of events being hosted for large numbers in the heart of the city.”
