CITE 2019 concluded with success and fruitful meetings

The seventh edition of Chengdu International Tourism Expo (CITE) 2019 was held at the Century City New International Exhibition Center from November 28-30. During the official opening an announcement was made by Mr Wang Min, Deputy Director-General of Chengdu Municipal Tourism Administration. He said that at the end of September this year, Chengdu has increased its total international air routes to a total of 124, keeping first place in the central and western regions, bringing great changes to the tourism market in southwestern China.

 

 

Among the other dignitaries who graced the occasion were the Deputy Director of Chengdu Culture, Radio and TV, Press & Publication Bureau; division chief of Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Expositions and vice-chairman of Sichuan Provincial Tourism Association. Ms Vyskubova Nadejda, Vice-minister of the Ministry of Tourism of the Tver region; Mr Ashok Kumar Jayapal, Secretary Tourism of GOA Tourism, Mr Alexi Gunasekara, Minister Commercial of Sri Lanka Embassy in Beijing, China and Mr Steven Pang, Consul General of the Republic of Singapore also attended the official opening.
A token of appreciation to numerous exhibitors was provided to the organizing committee during the opening ceremony to recognize continuous support from the exhibitors.

 

 

Mr. Edward Liu brought a group of VIPs to tour the exhibition and meet with the various exhibitors after the opening ceremony.

 

There were more than 500 exhibitors who took part in CITE this year which was spread over an area of 8,000 square meters. From more than 35 countries global national tourism organisation, hotels, leading tour agencies, airlines and attractions took part.
The first time exhibitors were from Turkey, Goa, Russia etc.
More than 300 hosted buyers were from Sichuan and other provinces and 5,000 trade visitors participated in CITE 2019.

 

 

The conference had discussions on big data , tourism technology, online tourism, customised tourism, travel agencies, overseas education, hotel and tourism VR.

 

 

Two days of B2B networking sessions and luncheon were conducted by effectively matching some 300 hosted buyers with enthusiastic exhibitors within the exhibition hall. Through the Pre-Scheduled Appointments system (PSA) most of the meetings were matched and some of them were arranged on the spot.

 

 

The Chengdu Municipal Tourism Administration hosted a special dinner event at the Fairmont Hotel on 28 November for more than 150 international exhibitors and tour operators from CITE 2019.

 

During the event, Ms. Cynthia Lim on behalf of Conference & Exhibition Management Services (CEMS) was invited as a strategic partner to join the Chengdu Inbound Tourism Strategic Partnership Alliance.

 

In recognition of the splendid tourism promotional work carried out by Conference & Exhibition Management Services (CEMS) for the past seven years, actively promoting Chengdu as a top tourist destination in Western China, Edward Liu, Group Managing Director of CEMS, was presented with a Certificate of Chengdu International Tourism Promotion Outstanding Contribution Award.
