A floral tribute is organized for the Telangana Martyrs Memorial of Rangareddy District at Gun Park on 2nd June. Forty one years after finishing the Telangana Martyrs Memorial in memory of those who lost their lives in the separate Telangana agitation of 1969, Prof. Aekka Yadagiri Rao has created the Amara Veerula Thyagala Spoorthitho Bangaru Telangana Sadhidham installation at Saroornagar Indoor Stadium, near LB Nagar Chowrastha. The new creation of Prof. Yadagiri Rao reflects the change in the mood of people.
24 tableaux showcasing achievements in various sectors will be displayed during the Parade on the 2nd June and will be kept for public viewing till the 7th of June at the NTR Stadium. The Tableau, apart from depicting the State symbols also juxtaposes the original Martyrs’ memorial and the new one at Saroornagar designed by the same sculptor.
The female figure sitting atop the boulders symbolizes birth and the creative energies of the universe. On the first birthday of the new state, the lady sings songs of Amarula Thyagulu and beckons us to strive and toil for Bangaru Telangana. The music is so powerful that it transforms everything it touches and the Tambura itself curves to the sound of the music at its sublime peak. The music breaks the boulders and life in the form of a tree sprouts from the barren earth to benignly provide shade to the singer.
The imposing height of the sculpture symbolizes the high aspirations of the people. While the aspirations and the dreams might seem impossible to achieve, the architects of the state work tirelessly towards the goal of Bangaru Telangana with the same determination that gave birth to the state.
Bangaru Telangana Sadhidham, designed by reputed sculptor of Telangana Mr Ekke Yadagiri is a 6 feet 9 inches sculpture which sits atop boulders spread over an area of 44 feet to 37 feet in the forecourt of the Saroornagar Indoor Stadium and is the official Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial of Rangareddy District. Bangaru Telangana Sadhidham is also a song of the future and of hope. Mr Ekke Yadagiri had also designed the original Telangana Martyrs’ memorial at Gunpark in 1969.
The celebrations will also see an interesting book launch of a book called Shepherd’s Hill by a debut author Nikhil Gulati on 3rd June at 6pm at Golconda Fort. Shepherd’s Hill is a non-fiction graphic novel telling the story of Golconda, which attempts to bring alive the fort and the people who ruled it. Beginning with Aurangzeb’s siege of Golconda, the graphic novel tells how Golconda became one of the richest and strongest kingdoms in the world. Along the way, we meet Golconda’s eccentric Sultans, its famous diamond trade and its beautifully intricate architecture.
Nikhil Gulati is a graduate of IIM-Ahmedabad who decided to pursue his passion in making graphic novels. Shepherd’s Hill is his first published work.
