Cleartrip had observed nearly 34% year-on-year rise in flight bookings, while Paytm had noted an 18% surge in demand for flight tickets. Amit Taneja who is the chief revenue officer of Cleartrip said that the average flight fare of Rs. 4,380 during Diwali 2016 had declined by a marginal 3.2% this year and currently stands at Rs. 4,238.
He then went on to add that almost about 35% of bookings this year had happened 60 days in advance as against just 24% last year that had played some role in bringing down the average flight fares.
Paytm Travel’s vice president Abhishek Rajan mentioned that both domestic and international travel has registered a 10% increase in bookings as compared to the non-festive months. He said that while destinations including Porbander, Puducherry, Bikaner, Vishakhapatnam and Khajuraho have registered quite a strong traction domestically.
In international travel unique destinations like Porto in Portugal, Cairo in Egypt, Zagreb in Croatia and Tomsk in Russia have emerged as favorable tourist spots.
Other start-ups like Travkart and Goomo have witnessed flight bookings rise by 20% and 24% respectively. Cleartrip has observed a 90% increase year-on-year.
