Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and Marriott International (NASDAQ: MAR) announced today a new partnership to provide qualifying CLIA Members a variety of benefits, including commissions on qualified hotel bookings across Marriott’s 19 brands.
The new partnership also provides CLIA Agency and Individual Agent Members access to Marriott’s Fam-Tastic® familiarization rates. Agents who are associated with a qualifying CLIA Travel Agency and hold a CLIA EMBARC ID are eligible to access the rates once they successfully complete Marriott’s industry leading Hotel Excellence!® training program and become a Hotel Sales Specialist (HSS), certified by Marriott.
“At CLIA, we are always looking for new opportunities to enhance our travel agent member experience and this partnership will bring immeasurable value to our community,” said Cindy D’Aoust, president and CEO, CLIA. “This new venture positively impacts the travel industry and further supports the important role travel professionals play.”
“Our partnership with CLIA underscores Marriott’s commitment to supporting and working with current and future generations of travel professionals,” says Brian King, Global Officer, Marriott Signature Brands & Global Sales. “We look forward to welcoming CLIA travel professionals and their clients to our more than 4,400 hotels worldwide. With one of the greatest selection of brands in the industry, CLIA Agent Members can be assured of finding the perfect hotel experience that will delight their clients. ”
Marriott’s partnership with CLIA reinforces a long history of joint commitment to the travel professional community, as demonstrated through training programs as well as Marriott’s Double Commission Guarantee and dedicated, award-winning Intermediary Partner Care Team.
Both organization’s ongoing investment in travel professional education and Certification Programs provide travelers with assurance that, when they are working with a CLIA Certified Travel Agent, they will receive exceptional service.
