An aircraft of IndiGo Airlines that that travelling to Vishakhapatnam from Delhi made an emergency landing on Wednesday after a crew member observed fumes spearing from the plane’s cockpit according to a leading news media agency.
Flight 6E719 had taken off from Delhi around 5.30 a.m.
It was carrying 170 passengers on board. But it was compelled to return to Indira Gandhi International Airport within 10 minutes after its cabin started filling up with smoke.
Automatically oxygen masks were deployed after the plane’s cabin pressure dropped, as per an identified airport official.
Indigo mentioned that they had conducted the precautionary landing following a ‘false alarm’. Keeping the safety and security of passengers in mind, the captain-in-command informed the Air Traffic Control. Thereafter a precautionary landing in Delhi was carried out as per a spokesperson for the airline.
Once the plane landed the airplane landed the airplane was checked for oil leakages and electrical burn residue but nothing was discovered.
