Record result 2015 – New central themes 2016/2017
Cologne Tourist Board has positive results to report for 2015 at ITB, as the Cologne business and leisure tourism sector set a new record last year with 5.98 million overnight stays. This figure represents an increase of 4.3 per cent from 2014. Cologne is a lively city with a vibrant culture, especially thanks to its museums. The year 2016 will be marked by the exhibition “We call it Ludwig” on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Museum Ludwig and the 30-year existence of the museum building. With the exhibition “The Big Screen!”, the Museum of the City of Cologne and the association “Köln im Film e.V.” remember the 120 years of history of Cologne’s cinemas and the first screening of a film in Germany, which took place in Cologne on 20 April 1896. Cologne Tourist Board will highlight the creative hotspot of Cologne with a new central theme in 2016/2017: “#urbanCGN – cologne urban lifestyle”, focusing on the modern urban way of life and sights off the beaten track.
