Since the first Master Plan in 2008, Meliá has developed a comprehensive CSR strategy as the backbone of the business. The evolution of CSR throughout the term of the 2012-2014 Strategic Plan has allowed Meliá to achieve an important degree of maturity, especially in Spain. This model has gained in consistency and strategic vision, allowing the definition of a truly global model.
In 2015, this commitment has strengthened Meliá’s leadership in the hotel industry, making progress in its CSR projects in all of the different regions in which it operates and meeting the challenge of internationalising its CSR model in line with its future growth in different markets .
In 2015, Meliá began the implementation of this global model adapted to the cultural reality in each destination, the environment, needs and business priorities. The internationalisation of the model involves sharing a long-term vision, but allowing each region to develop CSR based on its own priorities and needs, including those of the business.
The definition of the Global Model has allowed Meliá to align CSR strategy internationally with sufficient adaptability and flexibility to ensure the implementation of actions in every region, country and hotel as Melia aims to create a positive impact on the overall environment which responds to the needs of each micro-environment.
